AGAWAM — Six Flags New England is preparing to open its gates for the 2016 season, which will officially kick off on Saturday, April 9.
The park will be opening for Spring Break that day with normal hours through April 24, premiering Superman the Ride and Rock n’ Rodeo. Riders will have to stay tuned to experience Fireball, a looping coaster and Superman the Ride Virtual Reality Coaster, which are slated to open later in the 2016 season.
For the 16 days the park is open for Spring Break, Six Flags is partnering with the Springfield Police Department to collect new Teddy Bears for children impacted by domestic violence and abuse.
According to Six Flags, starting on opening day, the aim will be to fill an entire Springfield police cruiser with bears, as officers typically provide the stuffed animals to children when they are present at reported domestic violence or abuse situations.
Anyone who brings a Teddy Bear during the 16-day Spring Break run is eligible to receive a coupon for $20.16 off the price of admission.
Six Flags New England is in the process of hiring 3,000 seasonal workers for positions including admissions, culinary services, games, lifeguards, loss prevention, park services, EMTs, security, entertainment, retail and rides.
After April 24, the park will be open every weekend until Memorial Day and then daily until October.
