Soarin’ will take flight once again at Epcot beginning June 17.
Redubbed “Soarin’ Around the World,” the attraction will feature a new film presentation which will give guests birds-eye views of landmarks around the world, from the Great Wall of China to the Sydney Harbor in Australia.
“Soarin’ over California” was an opening day attraction at Disney California Adventure on Feb. 8, 2001. Epcot’s version opened in 2005. Both are receiving the around the world update.
Along with the new film, the update will also include advanced effects and technology, including a unique camera system and new laser projection system for crystal-clear resolution.
Epcot will also be getting a third “concourse” for additional flights and increased ride capacity.
Many people love Soarin’ for the citrus smells during the orange grove portion of the previous presentation. The update will include new smells, according to art director Jason Grandt.
Soarin’ has been closed for refurbishment since Jan. 4.
Frozen Ever After, a new attraction based on the hit animated film “Frozen,” will make its debut at Epcot’s Norway pavilion sometime this summer, according to Disney.
A meet-and-greet area for characters Anna and Elsa called the Royal Sommerhus will open with the new attraction. The Norway pavilion is the former home to Maelstrom, which closed to make room for Frozen Ever After.
